An etching demands a lot of effort and patience from an artist as well as a desire to work with dangerous stuff. It requires a great talent, too because all designs must be drawn inversely (mirror effect).
Therefore the art of etching is estimated greatly and there are not so many artists of this kind in the world.

Etching represents deep pressure drawing. These graphic pressure techniques were developed at the beginning of the 16th century.

The metal plate is covered with a sour-firm layer of lacquer and blackened in order to see the lines better. Then the artist makes the drawing with the help of a special needle and puts the metal plate down into acid.
The acid on those places where the sour-firm layer of lacquer is destroyed by the needle combines with the metal and the drawing is corroded on the metal plate.
After this procedure the layer of lacquer is removed and the paint is laid on a warm plate with a tampon. The plate is covered with a d amp sheet of paper and the drawing is printed on a special press.
